Provision for Special Educational Needs

The school keeps a register of children with Special Educational Needs. This follows the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice. Children are placed on the register at one of three levels:

  • SEN concern - the initial stage when additional needs become apparent
  • SEN support - the child is provided with additional support or resources from the school's own budget
  • Education, Health, Care Plan (EHC) - the child is provided with additional support or resources from the Local Authority

We record the level of support required by each child on the register and hold termly planning meetings to monitor progress and review Individual Learning Programmes.  The school has regular contact with specialist outside support teams such as the Speech and Language Service and Educational Psychology Service. The school's Inclusion Manager, Mrs J Parkin, is the school's appointed Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO)

To support parents in understanding what they can expect for their child in terms of our provision, we have produced a document which describes the strategies and resources that may be used to meet different children's needs.  This can be found via the link below.
